Celebrating Canadian Excellence at the 2025 Falling Walls Science Summit
The Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS) is proud to celebrate the achievement of Harry Wilton-Clark, an MD/PhD student in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, who represented Canada at the 2025 Falling Walls Science Summit (6–9 November) in Berlin, Germany. Harry competed in the Emerging Talents category and placed third among finalists from a variety of fields.
Since 2009, the Falling Walls Science Summit has brought together global leaders in science and innovation to showcase breakthrough ideas and build connections between disciplines. A central feature of the summit is the Falling Walls Pitches, where shortlisted participants present their research in front of a live international audience.
Harry’s pitch, titled “Breaking the Wall of Rare Disease Therapies,” outlined his efforts to develop splice-modulating precision therapies for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, targeting mutations that currently have no effective treatments. His presentation highlighted the global impact of his discoveries and the challenges faced by researchers working on rare diseases.
CAGS congratulates Harry Wilton-Clark and the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies on this outstanding achievement.
