Susan Jack is an outstanding graduate student mentor. An Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at McMaster University, she has supervised or acted as a committee member for 40 M.A. and Ph.D. students from different departments, including nursing, rehabilitation sciences, public health, and health research methods. Under her mentorship, many students have developed into strong leaders in the field of public health nursing.
Dr. Jack is known for encouraging, inspiring, and supporting graduate students to reach their full potential. She has the ability to identify the unique characteristics of each individual’s work, and to challenge them to achieve levels of success beyond what they thought were possible. She frequently supports students to apply for funding, write grants, present at professional conferences, and publish their work. Dr. Jack also runs a popular monthly research support group with her graduate students.
