Susan Graham is an outstanding graduate student mentor. A professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Calgary, Dr. Graham has an exemplary record of graduate mentorship spanning over two decades. She has supervised 13 Ph.D students and 16 M.Sc. students, many of whom have taken up leadership roles in industry and academia.

Dr. Graham’s approach to graduate supervision is grounded in her belief that an effective student-supervisor relationship is laid upon a foundation of mutual respect, trust, availability, and teamwork. “Dr. Graham taught us the value of collaborating with colleagues and the creativity that can arise from doing so,” writes a former graduate student. It is this spirit of working together that drives Dr. Graham’s passion for helping young researchers to achieve success. She works hard to integrate students into her lab, and helps them network with relevant scholars in the field.
